Evening antics
Some excellent quiz performances from the boys and a resounding chorus of Happy Birthday for Matthew Fletcher.
Pompeii - part 2
An excellent afternoon including a much needed coffee break for some and a carb-heavy lunch to fuel us for the rest of the day! Highlights this afternoon included the House of Caecilius, House of the Faun and the Villa of Mysteries. We finished off with an hour to browse in Sorrento before heading back for dinner and packing.
A day in Pompeii - Part 1
A beautiful if windy day in Pompeii. We've spent the morning visiting some of the best-preserved houses and some of the larger buildings including the amphitheatre. The boys also enjoyed looking around the large bath houses and the temple of Isis; however requests to re-enact a burning of a sacrifice to the gods were denied, much to their disappointment!

Herculaneum
A brilliant afternoon looking round the ruins of Herculaneum. There were some amazingly well-preserved buildings as well as skeletal remains of those who attempted to shelter from the eruption in nearby boathouses. The boys were given time to explore and some even tried translating the Latin inscriptions!
Villa of Poppaea at Oplontis
A fantastic morning spent exploring this magnificent villa. Special highlights include the beautiful frescos and the Olympic-size swimming pool! Poppaea was the second wife of Emperor Nero and the villa shows the level of luxury at the very top of Roman society. The boys were very impressed!

Time to spare...
The boys are 'striking' out at the Sorrento bowling alley with notable performances from Joe Lucas and James Maxwell, not to mention an impressive effort from Mr Fawcett!
